We know the ones you are talking about.  We've even bought their courses to compare. Our goal was to provide higher quality learning, with a lot of detail, at a much more affordable price.  Our mission at Inside Blackbird is to share the craft of making music with a broad audience and pass the love of this art on to others who share the same passion.  It's that simple.

Inside Blackbird is the video production arm of Blackbird Studio.  We offer both these courses here as well as aseparate website that offers a monthly subscription service with individual episodes exploring all aspects of Producing, Engineering, Mixing, and Performing. We even cover the live production side of the concert business. It's MasterClass for music.  What's different here from our other all-you-can-eat and choose your own adventure subscription site is these courses are offered as single linear experience, a deep dive if you will, into a specific focus.

We're called "Inside Blackbird" because we are an educational video team that is based inside the world famous Blackbird Studio in Nashville, Tennessee.  Foundedin 2002 by legendary sound engineer John McBride and his country superstar wife, Martina McBride, Blackbird Studio is known for its state-of-the-art production facilities and unparalleled collection of vintage and modern recording equipment.  Because of this, it has been a creative home to many of the top artists, producers, and engineers who have recorded some of the most successful and classic albums of all time.  If you love music we are certain you have heard a chart topping and award winning song that originated from within our walls.  The dedicated people behind the scenes, the Producers and Engineers and Session Musicians, are our real strength.  We are dedicated to transferring that knowledge to the next generation of music makers in this new digital content format.

Yes.  This is our site that delivers a superior experience for courses only.  The nature of courses is that you learn from a starting point through multiple video lessons in a linear fashion to an end point.  So the experience needs to be different and we need to take advantage of remembering your place along that course outline to keep you on a linear track.  Typically you just pay a single a la carte fee and have access to only that course.

On our other site www.InsideBlackbird.com we offer video episodes and series on a wide variety of music production related topics.  They are not courses, but they are informative and often hands-on in nature.  But the VOD experience is definitely choose your own adventure, so it requires a different experience and all you can eat subscription pricing.  We wanted to offer flexibility for all types of creatives looking to expand their knowledge and skill set.  In the end, we hope you will enjoy both.
